For every cutting board sold, we will donate $5 to an animal charity. This charity depends on the board purchased.
For every Monkey Board sold, $5 will be donated to the Sumatran Orangutan Society charity.
As of 2020, there are only 14,600 remaining sumatran orangutans in the wild compared to 58'400 in 1945. Half of their main habitat was destroyed in 20 years.
The main issue behind this problem is deforestation. When these rainforests are taken away, the orangutans become stranded, where they become easy targets for poaching. These starving orangutans also resort to raiding local crops grown within local communities which causes conflict.
The solution behind this issue comes in 3 ways:
1) Protecting Orangutans - The sumatran orangutans that are left stranded after their homes in the rainforests burn down. They are often starving and desperite to find food. At the same time, poachers begin to seize the opportunity to illegally trap the orangutans and sell them. The Sumatan Orangutan Society helps these particular orangutans by providing them a place to stay as well as food.
2) Saving Forests - The Sumatran Orangutan Society partners with companies and governemnt agencies to prevent mass deforestation, as well as replanting trees in private land.
3) Supporting Locals - They Sumatran Orangutan Society helps to educate people living around sumatran orangutan inhabited forests. They do this to teach how important the sumatran orangutans are to the local ecosystems, as well as how crucial rainforests are to sustain life for all creatures.
For every Magma Board sold, $5 will be donated to the Tusk.org charity.
Currently, there are approximately 415,000 African elephants left in the world, which is down 90% from 100 years ago.
The problems surrounding this issue are loss of habitat, as well as poaching and human encroachment. As the African population grows rapidly, elephant habitats are being invaded due to the demand land needed for human development.
The short term solution to this issue is to rescue vulnerable elephants from getting poached by illegal hunters.
The long solution for this is to develop a way for humans to co-exist with the elephant population. This is what Tusk.org is working hard to figure out.
For every Cottage Board sold, $5 will be donated to Pandas International charity.
As of 2020, there are only 1864 giant pandas left in the world.
The problems affecting the pandas are primarily associatated with the development of China's mainland. As the population grows, bamboo forests that have existed for hundreds of years are destroyed to make room for civilization. These forests are the panda's habitat as well as food supply.
The solution to this problem is raise awareness to the issue. Pandas International works by partnering with local municipalities to help establish safe sanctuaries around the bamboo forests.
For every Sunny Day board sold, $5 will be donated to Rhinos.org.
This charity specializes in rescuing and helping the critically endangered rhinos throughout Asia and Africa. It is estimated that 500’000 rhinos roamed the wild at the start of the 20th century, and now there only a miniscule 29’500 rhinos in the wild.
Like many animals, the main culprit to their shrinking numbers are poachers. However, Rhinos.org is countering this issue in many ways such as community partnerships, funding to anti-poaching agencies, rhino sanctuaries, and more.
For every Dark Forest board sold, $5 will be donated to Gorillafund.org, a charity dedicated to helping the critically endangered gorillas.
The main threat gorillas face is habitat loss. As human civilization continues to invade what was once safe homes for gorillas and other animals, gorillas are forced to migrate to less hospitable environments. They are in a similar situation as the Asian and African elephants.
What Gorillafund.org is doing is protecting and rescuing gorillas in need, as well as researching solutions for gorillas and humans to co-exist in the same land.
